Junior, the magazine for kids fashion, shopping and decor trends, recently announced the latest winners of their Junior Design Awards.
One category that we were keen to see the results of was Best Children’s Eco Fashion Brand 2024. The judging criteria for the award included not just the table-stakes of using sustainable fabrics, but also considered the production, manufacturing and processing behind the label to have a more holistic approach to eco-friendly kidswear.
The competition was so fierce that the Gold award was shared between two brands, with WHEAT and TÖASTIE taking home the joint Gold Best Children’s Eco Fashion Brand 2024.
The WHEAT Collection was noted for its quality of garments, as well as the playfulness and functionality of the pieces; allowing kids to be kids, emowering them to be themselves, and combining a muted colour palette with soft patterns for an adorable look.
Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior commented that,
“Not only are these designs eco-friendly, they’re stunning too. I love the ethos of letting kids be kids, their outfits can do the hard work for them, so they can just keep adventuring!”.
Joining WHEAT on the top spot of the podium was TÖASTIE with their latest collection of Cloud Onesies. Perfect for these chilly days, the judges were taken by just how soft and snuggly these onesies are, thanks in part to the eco-down fill, and finished with double zips to make getting your little one in and out a breeze. TÖASTIE get extra brownie points from us for their preloved options available – great for extending the life of these quality pieces, and making them more accessible to more families.
Not content with Gold sharing the spoils, so too was second place shared between two brands, with both Mika & Milo and Frugi sharing the Silver Best Children’s Eco Fashion Brand award.
Mika & Milo’s AW24 Collection blends organic cotton and cashmere, making them fit for climbing trees, building dens, and everyday adventues, all while being much easier to wash!
Eleonore Crompton, Deputy Editor of Junior commented:
“I love the cool designs on these jumpers. Fab colour palettes and the boy’s selection is just as much fun as the girl’s”.
Frugi’s Super You! Collection brought home the joint Silver, with judges impressed by the brand’s steadfast commitment to sustainability; using 100% GOTS certified cotton – better for the planet and kinder to soft skin. Rain-blocking seams, removable gilets and reversible styles offer a combination of practicality and versatility, with recycled fleece linings further enhancing Frugi’s eco-credentials.
Congratulations to all the winners, and well done to Junior for giving these eco-friendly brands a further platform when it comes to kids clothing.
